DeScotta Investigative Group is led by Jon Scott and Phil DePalma, who bring over 60 years of combined law enforcement and security experience. They have handled cases ranging from fraud and homicide to officer-involved investigations, earning a strong reputation for delivering professional, high-quality services.

Jon Scott
Jon Scott, a retired Police Sergeant Detective, has over 30 years of service specializing in homicides, burglary, fraud, and sex crimes. His career began in 1988 as a U.S. Marine Corps Captain, leading Marines in combat operations. In 1993, he joined the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, later becoming a Detective in 1997. For the last 12 years of his career, he served as a Homicide Detective Sergeant, managing homicide and officer-involved shooting investigations.
Jon Scott’s expertise includes homicide and criminal investigations, crime scene management, counterterrorism, interrogations, policy development, and officer-involved shooting cases. He holds a Master’s in Administration of Justice from Alaska University and a Bachelor’s in Criminal Justice/Political Science from Cameron University. With decades of training and experience in law enforcement, Jon and his partner Phil DePalma founded DeScotta Investigative Group to provide professional investigative services for both private and institutional clients.
Phil DePalma
Phil DePalma has over 27 years of law enforcement experience, including 21 years as a Detective with the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department. He investigated crimes involving child and elderly abuse, robbery, narcotics, and suicides, and gained extensive expertise in surveillance. Phil specialized in theft, embezzlement, undercover operations, and surveillance, becoming highly skilled in crime scene investigations, search warrants, cell phone and social media forensics, interviews, and courtroom testimony. He spent his final four years in the Homicide detail, earning one of the top solve rates in the unit. After retiring, he and Jon Scott founded DeScotta Investigative Group to provide professional investigative services to both private and institutional clients.
